‘The Stratford Upon Avon & Midland Junction Railway’ (or S.M.J.) was a small independent railway company which ran a line across the empty, untouched centre of England. It visited the counties of Northamptonshire, Warwickshire, Oxfordshire and a little of Buckinghamshire, only existing as the SMJ from 1909 to 1923. In 1923 the S.M.J.became a minor arm of the London Midland and Scottish (L.M.S.), then in 1948 'British Railways'

Lovely photo of a bridge weight limit sign. Did you know that there is still one in place on a bridge at Kineton? and is it not very similar? If no-one else has a photo of it, I will try to get down there and take one to post for you!

Good to hear you are into the SMJ! We're a friendly bunch - I guess we have to be, we are a unique lot! All this is my fault! Funny what a trip to Towcester Tesco's can do!!
