‘The Stratford Upon Avon & Midland Junction Railway’ (or S.M.J.) was a small independent railway company which ran a line across the empty, untouched centre of England. It visited the counties of Northamptonshire, Warwickshire, Oxfordshire and a little of Buckinghamshire, only existing as the SMJ from 1909 to 1923. In 1923 the S.M.J.became a minor arm of the London Midland and Scottish (L.M.S.), then in 1948 'British Railways'

Upcoming 150 Year Anniversary of opening of Blisworth-Towcester line.

Bit of advance notice, but on April 30th 2016, it will be 150 years since the opening of Blisworth - Towcester line.

Surely worth a celebration of some sort / get together at the Blisworth/Towcester end?

The Walnut Tree Inn - website says it is open from 10.00hrs daily. Maybe a member living locally could call in and broach the idea?

Great idea, I wonder if the hotel at Blisworth would be interested?

Jim.
