‘The Stratford Upon Avon & Midland Junction Railway’ (or S.M.J.) was a small independent railway company which ran a line across the empty, untouched centre of England. It visited the counties of Northamptonshire, Warwickshire, Oxfordshire and a little of Buckinghamshire, only existing as the SMJ from 1909 to 1923. In 1923 the S.M.J.became a minor arm of the London Midland and Scottish (L.M.S.), then in 1948 'British Railways'

BLISWORTH IN THE 1940s

Posted on April 20, 2018 at 15:55 0 Comments

An irregular publication is the magazine "British Railway Journal". (Cygnet Magazines Ltd)

Edition number 79 has just come out (April 2018)  (£10.95) and a most interesting article by Chris Turner, complete with period photographs for all those interested in Blisworth.

Upcoming 150 Year Anniversary of opening of Blisworth-Towcester line.

Posted on March 4, 2015 at 20:21 5 Comments

Bit of advance notice, but on April 30th 2016, it will be 150 years since the opening of Blisworth - Towcester line.

Surely worth a celebration of some sort / get together at the Blisworth/Towcester end?
