‘The Stratford Upon Avon & Midland Junction Railway’ (or S.M.J.) was a small independent railway company which ran a line across the empty, untouched centre of England. It visited the counties of Northamptonshire, Warwickshire, Oxfordshire and a little of Buckinghamshire, only existing as the SMJ from 1909 to 1923. In 1923 the S.M.J.became a minor arm of the London Midland and Scottish (L.M.S.), then in 1948 'British Railways'

Years ago we fished one out of the Tove as kids and took it home (circa 1988). I can't remember if it was LMS or BR now. We got it home only to be asked what we planned on doing with it. Not long after mum disposed of it :-(

This one has an "S" near to where the fixing has been broken, so I'm assuming it's LMS.
The railway company normally had their initials cast into track chair, will it clean up ?
So between us we have track chairs with 2, 3 and 4 hole fixings !!

I have an SMJ chair, recovered from the Olney Branch on the embankment between bridge 171 Piddington and Salcey Forest station. It has four fixing holes and looks to be an ex-LNWR example
