‘The Stratford Upon Avon & Midland Junction Railway’ (or S.M.J.) was a small independent railway company which ran a line across the empty, untouched centre of England. It visited the counties of Northamptonshire, Warwickshire, Oxfordshire and a little of Buckinghamshire, only existing as the SMJ from 1909 to 1923. In 1923 the S.M.J.became a minor arm of the London Midland and Scottish (L.M.S.), then in 1948 'British Railways'

H.J.Stretton-Ward of No 8 of Charwelton Quarry in the mainline siding at Charwelton Station looking towards Catesby Tunnel. J11 64237 goes by. This was a Woodford engine. I wonder if this was on the 'Round The World' trip. The date may be either 1955 or 1956, I assume that it is the summer.

Could well be, it's carrying a pickup freight lamp headcode and there look to be a couple of steel mineral wagons ( 2nd and last).
