‘The Stratford Upon Avon & Midland Junction Railway’ (or S.M.J.) was a small independent railway company which ran a line across the empty, untouched centre of England. Note how the track dips under the bridge to provide clearance. The retaining walls on both sides appear to have been replaced at some time. An original blue brick retaining wall is still in place on the other side of the bridge. Note the length of track ( both sides ) just above the arch for strengthening. There are cement markers dated 11/07 mainly near the four course brick arch. Closer inspection of the photo will reveal the bridge plates under the arch at a distance of 24 miles 19 chains from Blisworth Station. Looking towards Northend and Kineton.
