‘The Stratford Upon Avon & Midland Junction Railway’ (or S.M.J.) was a small independent railway company which ran a line across the empty, untouched centre of England. It visited the counties of Northamptonshire, Warwickshire, Oxfordshire and a little of Buckinghamshire, only existing as the SMJ from 1909 to 1923. In 1923 the S.M.J.became a minor arm of the London Midland and Scottish (L.M.S.), then in 1948 'British Railways'

Welcome to the website.

I put together an album of pictures of Byfield which is on this website but most of the pictures are of the Ironstone workings. Follow the link SMJ Albums then search for Byfiled and you should find it.

I'd very much like to see the Woodford layout. I've heard about it from Rex Partridge but I've never actually got round to going to see it. I've not seen Rex since the 1960's but sometimes ring him up, He's helped a lot with info for some of my articles on this website ( Locos seen on the SMJ, Railtours, etc.) I believe he and some other local enthusiasts also have occasional (monthly?) get togethers at the same venue.
