‘The Stratford Upon Avon & Midland Junction Railway’ (or S.M.J.) was a small independent railway company which ran a line across the empty, untouched centre of England. It visited the counties of Northamptonshire, Warwickshire, Oxfordshire and a little of Buckinghamshire, only existing as the SMJ from 1909 to 1923. In 1923 the S.M.J.became a minor arm of the London Midland and Scottish (L.M.S.), then in 1948 'British Railways'

Hi David Would I be correct in assuming that you are the David Wellstood who was a classmate of mine at Berowne School during the late 1950's. If so,given that you now live in Holland and I live in Melbourne,Australia it seems amazing that we have been reunited by the SMJR website after 60 years. You may recall that our school walks often were taken on the Morton Tramway path sometimes as far as the bridge over the SMJ . We also spent many afternoons together at the former GWR Station.\ regards Bryan Smith (Smith v)
