‘The Stratford Upon Avon & Midland Junction Railway’ (or S.M.J.) was a small independent railway company which ran a line across the empty, untouched centre of England. It visited the counties of Northamptonshire, Warwickshire, Oxfordshire and a little of Buckinghamshire, only existing as the SMJ from 1909 to 1923. In 1923 the S.M.J.became a minor arm of the London Midland and Scottish (L.M.S.), then in 1948 'British Railways' 

Gone but not forgotten: "the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth"

The SMJ Remembered

While editing tags, wrongly captioned pix, etc. on this website, I've put together a collection of your photos from everybody's photos on this website of trains and locos on the SMJ when it was working. I've called it 'The SMJ Remembered'.
Unfortunately the way the editing process works on this ning. site it has attributed the album to yours truly when I can only claim credit for 2 of them myself !!! I thought people would like to be able to easily access these vintage shots, perhaps as a slideshow. I'm planning to the same thing with Ironstone Lines pix on the site in the future if no one objects. I hope none of the photographers object to me putting these together in this way, but if anyone does it will be easy for me to remove them from the album without deleting them from the site's collection.
