‘The Stratford Upon Avon & Midland Junction Railway’ (or S.M.J.) was a small independent railway company which ran a line across the empty, untouched centre of England. It visited the counties of Northamptonshire, Warwickshire, Oxfordshire and a little of Buckinghamshire, only existing as the SMJ from 1909 to 1923. In 1923 the S.M.J.became a minor arm of the London Midland and Scottish (L.M.S.), then in 1948 'British Railways'

Funny Story about Kineton Military Railway 2 Replies

An improbable, funny, but absolutely true story relating to the Kineton military railway.Long after my Army days I still retained an affection and passing interest in Kineton ammunition depot where I served during the 1960s. Coupled to a 'love' of…Continue

Gentlemen
I have started this discussion as a way of (hopefully) bringing together those who are coming to our get-together on the 12th of June 2010 - those who can bring items to display, those who have hardware that might be of use for the day and as a general focus for the days events. A summary of how it could be used is like:

Andy: will be there all day Saturday (would like to pop over Friday evening too). I can bring things to display and I would love to go on a trip to Stoke Bruerne station if it can be arranged

What would be a real coup would be to get the Warley Model Railway Club to bring their 60-foot (!) model of Broom Junction and get it working.
Gents

I am coming up from Devon Friday AM and will come straight over to Stoke Bruerne. Anyone wishing to be around on Friday afternoon/evening can contact me on 07778 542735.

Bring any stuff we could use as exhibits and we can start getting set up.

See you all there

Andy
I must say that so far it looks as though there is going to be a reasonable turnout for the show 12th/13th June. I have managed to book a couple of model railway layouts from the local (Northampton) Model Railway Club to keep the display company. I don't know yet what they are going to be, but they should add to the interest.
Excellent work David - the Warley lot with their layout said it would be too large and too complicated.

I can bring a small selection of S scale models, particularly of number 5 and number 8, plus a few wagons.

Simon
Excellent! That would be great Simon! Andy

Hello Everyone

As I live in Cornwall I am unable to get to the "you together"

I hope the day goes well and is a success

Bernard
Just like to express my thanks to Andy, Dick and Alwyn and the others I met yesterday for the welcome and chat and display of items.

I'm looking forward to next time.

Nice to meet you all at last

Gary
