‘The Stratford Upon Avon & Midland Junction Railway’ (or S.M.J.) was a small independent railway company which ran a line across the empty, untouched centre of England. This emerged from a box of photographs that came to light a couple of weeks ago.
I do not know the photographer or any details of this view apart from "3.52" written on the back - which I presume to mean it was taken in March 1952. From the lamps it appears to be a through freight - possibly an Olney - Stratford - and beyond.
The motive power is the usual 4F (identity unknown) - and yes, I know that the quality is pretty grim.
However I don't know of any other shots at this location - and as you all are aware photos on this section of line are pretty rare. The first vehicle in the train looks interesting as well.
