‘The Stratford Upon Avon & Midland Junction Railway’ (or S.M.J.) was a small independent railway company which ran a line across the empty, untouched centre of England. I used to visit Towcester SMJ in the early 60s - always from Blisworth so I came along the Tiffield Road. I remember the station (with its three platforms and slightly elevated signal box) viewed from this angle and the bridge over the line branching off to Ravenstone Wood Junction. The bridge had 4 (the maximum) diamond shaped cast iron notices. I seem to remember a foundry along the Tiffield Road (?).
I regret that I never bothered to carry on to the A5 and turn right after the railway bridge so never I saw the front of Towcester station.
