‘The Stratford Upon Avon & Midland Junction Railway’ (or S.M.J.) was a small independent railway company which ran a line across the empty, untouched centre of England. It visited the counties of Northamptonshire, Warwickshire, Oxfordshire and a little of Buckinghamshire, only existing as the SMJ from 1909 to 1923. In 1923 the S.M.J.became a minor arm of the London Midland and Scottish (L.M.S.), then in 1948 'British Railways'

The road over which the SMJ ran (at this point) is into Welford-on-Avon (1/2 mile!)

Cheers Peter

At present I'm going through all the pix on this website and adding nearby stations and village names as tags. I'm also checking spelling errors on titles and adding info as necessary. Hopefully when I've finished searches should be easier especially tag ones.

Dick,
Behind me is the approach into what was Binton Station, a gas storage depot now....
adjacent to the Evesham - Stratford road...
Looking foward towards Stratford...
You can jsu make out the fact that a bridge was there, although time has done its best to remove the evidence...!
