‘The Stratford Upon Avon & Midland Junction Railway’ (or S.M.J.) was a small independent railway company which ran a line across the empty, untouched centre of England. It visited the counties of Northamptonshire, Warwickshire, Oxfordshire and a little of Buckinghamshire, only existing as the SMJ from 1909 to 1923. In 1923 the S.M.J.became a minor arm of the London Midland and Scottish (L.M.S.), then in 1948 'British Railways'

The first SMJ Get-Together

Please put your name down here if you think you would be able to come. Can you also list any SMJ items you might be able to bring along for the day as exhibits.

I am giving you a quick heads up about an important date in June the SMJ get-together on the 12th. I am in the middle of arranging a stall at the The Friends of The Canal Museum, Stoke Bruerne 2010 Gala Weekend. The weekend will be full with opportunities to meet and greet, as well there'll be concerts, beer tents, and all-round good fun - I hope you can all come along and say hello, not just to make the first SMJ get-together a success but to support the Friends of The Canal Museum too!

If you feel you can support the SMJ stall with exhibits etc then the more the merrier! Let's all put the 12th of June 2010 in our diaries, tell our friends and make it a day to remember!!

There is the possiblity of a trip to Stoke Bruerne station being worked on too, more details to follow!

Once again, thank you for your support, none of this would be possible with out any of you. Please leave comments, thoughts, wants, "yes's and no's" below. Thanks for your support. Details so far:

I should be able to make it for part of the day at least. I usually try to get to see the working boats that arrive on the Friday in any case.

Yes (subject to domestic and work schedule). I may be able to provide 12 foot by 8 foot marquee, which I'll confirm next week. I can definately provide an 8 foot by six foot high velcro display board for pictures/photos etc. I can also laminate maps and images from the site. I can bring the paperwork in my images and the model of Blakelsey Station. I hope to have a diorama model of Stoke Bruern available too. I'll confirm all by the end of next week.
