‘The Stratford Upon Avon & Midland Junction Railway’ (or S.M.J.) was a small independent railway company which ran a line across the empty, untouched centre of England. It visited the counties of Northamptonshire, Warwickshire, Oxfordshire and a little of Buckinghamshire, only existing as the SMJ from 1909 to 1923. In 1923 the S.M.J.became a minor arm of the London Midland and Scottish (L.M.S.), then in 1948 'British Railways' 

Gone but not forgotten: "the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth"

Bridge 4 on the Blisworth to Towcester line.

Cory bridge no. 4 occupational ( now footpath ) near to Gayton. The cutting is quite deep at this point and the bridge crosses the line at an angle.

Yes you have just jogged my memory, there are the odd tensioning cables dotted about, and strangely enough one on bridge 1A !!

We found bases where they had been sawn off and some tensioning cables for them too. Think there are some photos of some.

I don't recall seeing any telegraph poles on any length of old track bed that I have walked on.

I have recovered the odd broken insulator, and there is a double insulator holder still on bridge 5.

What you are seeing must be a very straight tree !
