‘The Stratford Upon Avon & Midland Junction Railway’ (or S.M.J.) was a small independent railway company which ran a line across the empty, untouched centre of England. It visited the counties of Northamptonshire, Warwickshire, Oxfordshire and a little of Buckinghamshire, only existing as the SMJ from 1909 to 1923. In 1923 the S.M.J.became a minor arm of the London Midland and Scottish (L.M.S.), then in 1948 'British Railways'

Hi sorry for the confusion but its just Bob iv been doing a lot of research into family lately and got into the habit of putting my birth name Robin in aswell as the name im known as Bob hope that clears that up,anyway to the important stuff I know my grandfather Alfred Groom was a guard at stratford around 1905 and lived at 8 ely street with my grandmother annie mabel and two children my dads brother and sistor, annie mabel lived by wappenham which i understand is on the SMJ line and they ended up in aston le walls in a cottage not a hundred metres away from the station there so as you can see the reoccuring factor is the SMJ im desperate to get more info as i never really knew my grandfather incidently he originated from wells norfolk again another busy victorian station any help would be great cheers bob
