‘The Stratford Upon Avon & Midland Junction Railway’ (or S.M.J.) was a small independent railway company which ran a line across the empty, untouched centre of England. It visited the counties of Northamptonshire, Warwickshire, Oxfordshire and a little of Buckinghamshire, only existing as the SMJ from 1909 to 1923. In 1923 the S.M.J.became a minor arm of the London Midland and Scottish (L.M.S.), then in 1948 'British Railways'

Bridge No 127
This iron bridge carried the Wappenham to Weedon Lois road over the NBJR. You can see engraved on the bridge "Barnwell and Co, Eagle Foundry, Northampton, 1871." They are listed in the 1869 Kelly's guide as stove, grate and range manufacturers, so building bridge girders must have been an impressive job for them. The bridge bears some similarity to Bridge No 1 at Blisworth.
