‘The Stratford Upon Avon & Midland Junction Railway’ (or S.M.J.) was a small independent railway company which ran a line across the empty, untouched centre of England. It visited the counties of Northamptonshire, Warwickshire, Oxfordshire and a little of Buckinghamshire, only existing as the SMJ from 1909 to 1923. In 1923 the S.M.J.became a minor arm of the London Midland and Scottish (L.M.S.), then in 1948 'British Railways'

Note the Look Out Man with armband, on right hand side of photo, holding what looks like a warning horn and set of hand signalling flags. Location and date unknown. Can anybody put any names to faces?

Nice set of photo's Nigel. I think the gentleman wearing the trilby is a Look Out Man as denoted by the armband. In one hand a set of hand signalling flags and a look out man's warning horn in the other. Although he's well dressed for the job.
