‘The Stratford Upon Avon & Midland Junction Railway’ (or S.M.J.) was a small independent railway company which ran a line across the empty, untouched centre of England. It visited the counties of Northamptonshire, Warwickshire, Oxfordshire and a little of Buckinghamshire, only existing as the SMJ from 1909 to 1923. In 1923 the S.M.J.became a minor arm of the London Midland and Scottish (L.M.S.), then in 1948 'British Railways'

A walk along the Blisworth tunnel tramway and under the old SMJ Bridge
Its December 2021 and its raining as we go for a walk along the old Blisworth Tunnel tramway. It used to pas under SMJ and the remains of the bridge brick work are still there but the deck is long gone. Once there would have been trains going from Towcester to Bedford (but not many) above and horse drawn tramway trucks below. I guess they never existed at the same time unless someone corrects me.
