Great opportunity for an SMJ enthusiast perhaps. I'm not sure what you could actually do with this site though!…Continue

Hi,
I'm working on a 5" gauge model of SMJ 16. I'd like to make some nameplates for this loco and I need some details to make these as realistic as possible.
Did any SMJ locos ever have nameplates ? If so does anybody have any pictures or details of these ? My current plan is to fit the plates to the sides of the smokebox. Any details about the size of these plates and the font used would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Steven

I am fairly certain that none of them were ever named.
Thanks for this. I might look further afield (e.g. LMS) for examples.
Cheers,
Steven
Just checked all the photo's of No 16 in various publications etc. None of the Beyer 0-6-0 or 2-4-0 SMJ or E&WJR Locomotives carried names. I cannot see where the Beyer Peacock plates on 16 were fitted either so I presume that they were fitted to the rear of the tender.
