‘The Stratford Upon Avon & Midland Junction Railway’ (or S.M.J.) was a small independent railway company which ran a line across the empty, untouched centre of England. It visited the counties of Northamptonshire, Warwickshire, Oxfordshire and a little of Buckinghamshire, only existing as the SMJ from 1909 to 1923. In 1923 the S.M.J.became a minor arm of the London Midland and Scottish (L.M.S.), then in 1948 'British Railways'

Hello Robin,
I believe that the colour photo that someone gave to me some years ago has been developed "inside out", so to speak. Your photo nicely complements it!
I have no idea if there are any more of this event out there...but you never know!

Peter, please find attached a B/W photograph of the same event - but with even more participants adorning the signals - I wonder how many could get up there without the whole lot collapsing? I have not seen one of the photographs taken from "on high" - are there any out there?
