‘The Stratford Upon Avon & Midland Junction Railway’ (or S.M.J.) was a small independent railway company which ran a line across the empty, untouched centre of England. It visited the counties of Northamptonshire, Warwickshire, Oxfordshire and a little of Buckinghamshire, only existing as the SMJ from 1909 to 1923. In 1923 the S.M.J.became a minor arm of the London Midland and Scottish (L.M.S.), then in 1948 'British Railways'

During the tour part II it was noted that we'd not seen any grounded bodies of wagons anywhere near the line. Jim mentioned that he'd seen just one near Fenny Compton.

A grounded ex-MoD WGB. Formerly a BR PalVan the number was unobtainable at the time of the photo. Very unlikely to have passed over the SMJ unless on delivery to the depot when sold from BR. http://gallery6801.fotopic.net/c805581.html
