‘The Stratford Upon Avon & Midland Junction Railway’ (or S.M.J.) was a small independent railway company which ran a line across the empty, untouched centre of England. It visited the counties of Northamptonshire, Warwickshire, Oxfordshire and a little of Buckinghamshire, only existing as the SMJ from 1909 to 1923. In 1923 the S.M.J.became a minor arm of the London Midland and Scottish (L.M.S.), then in 1948 'British Railways'

Thanks to all who have commented on my mystery photos. During this investigation (and also the Wheldon's  ironstone sidings) I have referred often to the 'Bridges list' spreadsheet that we have on the website, which has been very informative, and is an essential historical record.

However, when looking at suggestions for the Broom end of the line, I realised that the spreadsheet doesn't have anything after Stratford and we probably ought to record this section too.

To avoid duplication of effort, has anyone already got a list of mileages, bridges, crossings, etc that could form the basis for this section of line, or access to any official plans / maps that could give us a start?

I'm quite happy to put it together and if necessary will start with OS maps etc, but someone out there might have done this already..............?
