‘The Stratford Upon Avon & Midland Junction Railway’ (or S.M.J.) was a small independent railway company which ran a line across the empty, untouched centre of England. It visited the counties of Northamptonshire, Warwickshire, Oxfordshire and a little of Buckinghamshire, only existing as the SMJ from 1909 to 1923. In 1923 the S.M.J.became a minor arm of the London Midland and Scottish (L.M.S.), then in 1948 'British Railways'

t is nice to see glimpses of that 'other world'. I'm glad I was a part of it - albeit only around 12 years old, but I was an honorary member of staff at our village station even in 1953.
Nice detail in this shot including the PW gangers trolley hut on the right & the "crossing" used to put it on th rails.
Somehow I just feel that these chaps are in for a bit of a wait.
