‘The Stratford Upon Avon & Midland Junction Railway’ (or S.M.J.) was a small independent railway company which ran a line across the empty, untouched centre of England. It visited the counties of Northamptonshire, Warwickshire, Oxfordshire and a little of Buckinghamshire, only existing as the SMJ from 1909 to 1923. In 1923 the S.M.J.became a minor arm of the London Midland and Scottish (L.M.S.), then in 1948 'British Railways'

My notes say Blisworth No 1 was built by Andrew Barclay in 1955 but surely the date must be wrong. Here she stands outside the shed at Blisworth on April 11 1967 on a day when her services were not required.

There were two Barclays, both Blisworth No.1. This is the 1955 one (AB2365). The earlier one, built in 1942 (AB2143), was later at Storefield Quarries, where she was their No.20.
