‘The Stratford Upon Avon & Midland Junction Railway’ (or S.M.J.) was a small independent railway company which ran a line across the empty, untouched centre of England. It visited the counties of Northamptonshire, Warwickshire, Oxfordshire and a little of Buckinghamshire, only existing as the SMJ from 1909 to 1923. In 1923 the S.M.J.became a minor arm of the London Midland and Scottish (L.M.S.), then in 1948 'British Railways'

I live in Australia but was born in Northampton.  My father and grandfather were born in Towcester and Stoke Bruerne respectively.  I've lived in Australia for over 40 years now but still enjoy visiting relatives in Towcester and having a pint at The Boat.  I'm planning to build a model railway and since discovering the SMJ have decided to base my model around the Towcester station so I am hoping to find a person to correspond with who could assist me with information about this line.

Welcome WIlliam,

Well this certainly is the place for information.

There is a modelling group on here too. Any questions just ask away - I am sure someone will give you a reply.
