‘The Stratford Upon Avon & Midland Junction Railway’ (or S.M.J.) was a small independent railway company which ran a line across the empty, untouched centre of England. It visited the counties of Northamptonshire, Warwickshire, Oxfordshire and a little of Buckinghamshire, only existing as the SMJ from 1909 to 1923. In 1923 the S.M.J.became a minor arm of the London Midland and Scottish (L.M.S.), then in 1948 'British Railways'

I suppose it is more obvious than the orignal platform remains. People would notice it more on a round about. Could also act as a double marker as there was the racecourse platforms nearby too.
At least they acknowledge the existance of the railway - many places don't.

I think it is just a "nod" to the fact there used to be a station here. I saw it and initially thought "oooh station reminant" but realised it wasn't. I think it is perhaps made from part of the old station though

Can anyone tell us what this is? It is to be found in the middle of a round about at the Old Town station site in Stratford-U-A. My confussion comes as I appears to run across the track bed and not along with it.
Ideas?
