The joint committee dicided to build a single-track railway line between Towcester and the Midland main line near Olney in an attempt to save the two companies. The line to Ravenstone Junction branched off from just north of Towcester station and ran through Easton Neston to continue through Shutlanger and crossed over the L.N.W.R. at Roade where a connection was made. There were two intermediate stations:

Stoke Bruerne
Salcey Forest
Ravenstone Wood

  • It is usually stated that the Towcester - Olney (SuAT&MJR) line opened for goods traffic on 13 April 1891 (the very day the "joint committee" was brought into operation). But what provenance is there for such goods operation starting then?

  • Today i was the other side of the Roade curve underneath the hump-back bridge, this is on the lane towards Ashton. Under the small hump-back bridge is the SMJ, truley quite fasenating.
