‘The Stratford Upon Avon & Midland Junction Railway’ (or S.M.J.) was a small independent railway company which ran a line across the empty, untouched centre of England. It visited the counties of Northamptonshire, Warwickshire, Oxfordshire and a little of Buckinghamshire, only existing as the SMJ from 1909 to 1923. An improbable, funny, but absolutely true story relating to the Kineton military railway.Long after my Army days I still retained an affection and passing interest in Kineton ammunition depot where I served during the 1960s. Coupled to a 'love' of…Continue

Rob - passing interest, you are still most welcome! I have been several time to the Old Town site and know Vic who runs the cycle hire place with the two railway carriages by the south curve junction and it was he who said there was someone nearby who wanted to meet me (a Mr SMJ) and talk shop. I have put your story as an entry on the forum so we will see what come up. Arthur Jordan was the Stratford man, I have a couple of copies of his book, I must have a shufty through it.
If you bump into the railway bloke feel free to give him my email address (home@4ndy.net) and the website of the address.
