‘The Stratford Upon Avon & Midland Junction Railway’ (or S.M.J.) was a small independent railway company which ran a line across the empty, untouched centre of England. It visited the counties of Northamptonshire, Warwickshire, Oxfordshire and a little of Buckinghamshire, only existing as the SMJ from 1909 to 1923. In 1923 the S.M.J.became a minor arm of the London Midland and Scottish (L.M.S.), then in 1948 'British Railways'

The noticeboards probably stayed headed LMS until the lines closure, they certainly did at Blakesley, my guess is eraly 60s judging on the advert.

That's a good point Gary. Every shot you see of the station approach is just this, towards the signal box if you're lucky! A shot the other way, with the signals and the Lucas bridge in the bbackground would be nice (and unrepeatable today!)

I don't suppose there is a photo looking the other way at all is there?
It would be nice to see the view from the loadinf ramp side but I really doubt such an image exists.

What a fantastic shot of the station front! It's different from the Casserly one which is a little closer up and has less detail.
