‘The Stratford Upon Avon & Midland Junction Railway’ (or S.M.J.) was a small independent railway company which ran a line across the empty, untouched centre of England. It visited the counties of Northamptonshire, Warwickshire, Oxfordshire and a little of Buckinghamshire, only existing as the SMJ from 1909 to 1923. In 1923 the S.M.J.became a minor arm of the London Midland and Scottish (L.M.S.), then in 1948 'British Railways'

I would like to say a big thankyou to all those who contrbute articles and pictures to this and other similar sites like many i think our railway heritage was destroyed needlessly and am so glad i can still see the remnants in pictures and in the flesh so to speak i cant help when driving around oxfordshire and surrounding counties looking to trace old lines and structures i may be living in the past but without the railways i doubt we would have what we have now.
