‘The Stratford Upon Avon & Midland Junction Railway’ (or S.M.J.) was a small independent railway company which ran a line across the empty, untouched centre of England. It visited the counties of Northamptonshire, Warwickshire, Oxfordshire and a little of Buckinghamshire, only existing as the SMJ from 1909 to 1923. In 1923 the S.M.J.became a minor arm of the London Midland and Scottish (L.M.S.), then in 1948 'British Railways'

Blisworth - Towcester ETS working

Electric train staff equipment had been brought into use between Blisworth and Towcester by 9 August 1910 (date of SMJR minute 451 (TNA file RAIL 674/3)) and presumably the new signal box at Blisworth appeared at the same time. In that this was so…Continue

So gentleman, when are we going to have our first SMJ get-together then? I know it will take some arranging and we'll only need a phone box to hold it in but who fancy's the idea?

A slow-burner that one - no rush!

Hello Chaps,

I have secured a six foot long by six foot tall display board that accepts velcro fastenings for the get together. I may also have another coming . I am going to scan and print some pictures/maps and "sound-bites" for it. Does anyone have any opinions about the content for the event? SMJ in general or perhaps the Towcester - Olney Section only?

I am working on a 2mm/1foot diorama of the Stoke Bruerne Station also, which should add some local flavour. I have a six foot table and plain black cloth too.

Let me know if you think we should have an all SMJ or more local slant on our display board.

First thanks for securing the display baord, its sounds great. I think, as we are the unofficial SMJ society that it should have an SMJ slant! I have stuff I can bring.

I must contact David B direct and tie somethings down, such as I can't make the Sunday so was just planning to make it a Saturday affair - does anyone have any thoughts on that?
