‘The Stratford Upon Avon & Midland Junction Railway’ (or S.M.J.) was a small independent railway company which ran a line across the empty, untouched centre of England. It visited the counties of Northamptonshire, Warwickshire, Oxfordshire and a little of Buckinghamshire, only existing as the SMJ from 1909 to 1923. In 1923 the S.M.J.became a minor arm of the London Midland and Scottish (L.M.S.), then in 1948 'British Railways'

Blisworth - Towcester ETS working

Electric train staff equipment had been brought into use between Blisworth and Towcester by 9 August 1910 (date of SMJR minute 451 (TNA file RAIL 674/3)) and presumably the new signal box at Blisworth appeared at the same time. In that this was so…Continue

Sadly no BR ticket but I do have an LMSR Dog Ticket from my "home" station.

Did BR print any tickets considering the line was only open for four years in it's duration? There are many examples of grouping and occassionally pre-grouping tickets remaining in ticket offices long into the BR period. With passeneger receipts on the line being so low, I wonder if there was a requirement to reprint any at all? Perhaps the busier stations might have needed a run of new tickets such as Stratford, Kineton and Towcester?
Nice one! "One Dog!" Where is it to? 11d? That's quite pricey!! Andy
Not sure of the destination, the pencil mark seems to read " No Ready" ? I agree though 11d for a journey of less than 20 miles and I love the statement that the dog must be accompanied by a passenger!
