Did this railway (as opposed to the East & West Junction Railway) go into receivership - if so, when. And when did it come out of receivership?Continue

Shall we bring this discussion under the proper heading! So far as the OS plan surveyed 1885, published 1886, is concerned: the OS liked - wherever they could - to have text running parallel to the top and bottom borders. When they came to add the…Continue

I've just been told by friends from Welford that there's a planning application to redevelop the Binton Station site:
Binton Station Planning Application May 2014
"Outline application for the development of up to 24 dwellings and change of use of existing Station House (Office) to residential"
Hopefully the railway buildings will be sympathetically treated.
Cheers,
Simon

Thanks for this update Simon.
I took a walk to Binton today and was reminded to check up on the status of this application - outline permission was granted on 11th March 2016. There is, however, no sign of any activity at the site. I've posted some photos from today.
Cheers,
Simon
The Binton station site is now for sale through Peter Clarke estate agents in Stratford, no details on their website yet though.
Great opportunity for a deep pocketed SMJ enthusiast!
Further to my mail, here is an extract from sales info.
'The site benefits from an outline planning permission for the erection of up to 24 dwellings, including retention of the existing Station House. Application Ref: 14/01391/OUT (with effect from the 11th March 2016) Stratford on Avon District Council.'
A belated update: Binton goods shed was demolished some time in July or August and the rest of the site cleared of the remnants of the gas storage business, the station building remains.
Visited the site last week, and building is well under way. The station building remains intact.
The station building has been renovated and rebuilt as a 2 bedroomed house, although the second bedroom is only 7'6" by 7' so really a boxroom, but it is not been priced up yet
It's on the market. For local buyers only who meet the local connection criteria. The stationmaster would have been okay.
I've attached the details:-

I went to Billesley Manor Hotel on Friday where the company are putting on a show until tomorrow evening with a view to buying the Station Building. As we are already home owners we are not allowed to buy it and that is why it is so cheap. \It is priced at £250,000 so will be sold at £185,000 to local people who are first time buyers
